ISLAMABAD (AP) — Iran’s foreign minister will visit Pakistan next week, the two countries said Monday, following unprecedented attacks on either side of the border last week that appeared to target Baluch militant groups with similar separatist goals. Iran's state-run IRNA news agency said that Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian spoke to Pakistani counterpart Jalil Abbas Jilani to defuse the flare-up. BEIRUT (AP) — The militant Hezbollah group fired more than 50 rockets at military posts in northern Israel on Thursday, a day after an Israeli airstrike on a home in southern Lebanon killed five of the group’s senior fighters. "We don't want this war to spread out," Amirabdollahian said during an appearance on CNN. Amirabdollahian on Sunday dismissed claims directly connecting Iran to the attacks, calling them "baseless." Amirabdollahian said linking Iran to any attack in the region, if U.S. interests are targeted, without providing proof, is "totally wrong."

There has also been some speculation that the ground invasion could be more limited in scope than what has been imagined so far.
